Lead Pastor

The church is led by Rev. James Spaugh. James has been at Bagley Swamp since 1999. Before moving to Hertford, James was the assistant pastor at Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church in Chapel Hill, NC.

James and his wife, Amy, have three children. James spends his “free” time volunteering for the Winfall Fire Department, and running his kids to golf, soccer, and baseball practices and games (depending on the season). James is also a member of the Parksville Ruritan Club. He likes to play jog, golf, hunt, fish, and cheer for the Tar Heels (2005 Champs!, Go Heels!). In March of 2007 he completed his first Half Marathon!

James earned his Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary and his bachelor degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Youth Pastor

Todd Kemp came on staff in June of 2007 as Bagley Swamp’s first Youth Pastor! Todd, and his wife Corrie, were married in May 2007 and are recent graduates of Southern Wesleyan University. Corrie is a pastor’s kid from Pittsfield, Maine. She played soccer in college and has a degree in Elementary Education. She teaches 5th Grade at Hertford Grammar School. Todd grew up in Roanoke, VA. His degree is in Christian Ministries. He loves sports and has a passion for people. Todd’s primary responsibility is to minister to middle and high school students.
