JAMES SPAUGH lead pastor

James is married to Amy and they have three kids. He grew up in the Winston-Salem, NC area and is a graduate of UNC - Chapel Hill and Asbury Seminary. James is a sports fan (Atlanta Braves, Washington Football Team, UNC Tarheels) and enjoys exercising at the Y most mornings. He is often better after he has had his cup of coffee. He has been the Lead Pastor at Bagley Swamp since 1999.

CASEY SPAUGH assistant pastor

Casey and her husband Kaleb joined the Bagley Swamp team in 2020. She grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina and is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University and Wesley Seminary. In her free time Casey enjoys days spent on the beach, fishing, good cups of coffee, and spending time with their goldendoodle, Fern. Casey’s greatest passion is to help people and communities grow into all Christ has for them.

HEATHER DAIL admin/children's director

Heather is married to Greg and they have two sons. Heather graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 2007 and has worked with children in numerous settings over the past 15 years. Her passion lies in creating personal relationships with children and their families. Her favorite bible verse has always been Proverbs 22:6- "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." She feels that as a team, Bagley Swamp Church and families can work together to instill the love of Jesus in all children.

BOBBY & STACEY LAYDEN worship

Bobby and Stacey are married with three awesome children. Bobby and Stacey have deep roots in the community here. Stacey spends her days in the town of Hertford as the Tourism Director for Perquimans County. Bobby works in media at Regulator Marine. The Laydens joined the Bagley Swamp team in 2021 as our worship leaders.

KALEB SPAUGH youth pastor

Kaleb grew up in Hertford and is a Graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, where he met his wife Casey. Kaleb loves working with teens and kids. His greatest passion is equipping kids and teens to become lifelong followers of Jesus. Kaleb is also a third grade teacher at Hertford Grammar School and in his free time you can find Kaleb watching Atlanta Braves baseball, playing on the water, or eating ice cream.

At our church we believe that Jesus changes everything. We strive as a community to follow after Jesus together as we seek to love God and love our neighbors to the best our our abilities.
